What should I know about handmade traditional products?

Our products are handcrafted by artisans using traditional techniques.

Even though our artisans are seasoned experts, handmade items can come with some imperfections, such as small irregularities in size, some loose threads or wear.

We do ensure however that the pictures of the Kilims are as truthful as possible and grasp the most of their original look.

How do I take care of my rug?

Kilims are extremely durable, but proper care and attention is necessary to maximize the life and appearance of your Kilim. Here are a few simple precautions to ensure that your Kilim lasts:

- Cleaning is important at regular intervals: work slowly and start by removing the surface dust with a carpet sweeper or else a vacuum cleaner with low suction mode (avoiding the fringe). You can then shake the kilim gently to dislodge more ingrained dirt.

- Shampooing can be done after the Kilim has been cleaned. For that, use a good quality wool detergent (and if you wish a cup of diluted vinegar) and dab (don’t rub) it gently and evenly across the entire surface. Let the Kilim then dry systematically, making sure that no pockets of dampness remain.

- If you don’t feel confident about the process, you can send the Kilim to be washed by a professional, such as a rug specialist.

- Spills should be attended to immediately. Use absorbent paper (like a kitchen towel) along with clean water (and ideally a compatible cleaning solution) and dab (not rub) it carefully. If stains or marks remain, your Kilim can be sent to professionals to treat them adequately.

- Regarding repairs, if serious damage should be repaired by professionals, minor damage can be rectified by sewing the area using matching coloured wool or appropriate similar looking material.
